Niner beads

St.Therese niner rosary
Not too long ago, my sister-in-law asked me if I had ever heard of "niners", which I told her I had not. I have heard of "tenners" but never "niners." Apparently they have been around for a while.

Anyway, what a neat idea it is: basically, "niners" are prayers beads of which you can practice a devotion to any saint of your choosing. There are nine beads in which you can say a novena if you like or just say Hail Mary's. And as long as you have the nine beads, you can choose any saint you like. (Not to say you can't do this with a typical decade rosary, but usually you have an Our Lady medal over a saint medal.)

This particular rosary in the above photo has a St.Therese medal attached. I stuck to the colors that I usually do when I make the St.Therese rosary, but you can choose whatever color you like.

I also have one for the men, although as you can see, there is still a rose attached.

For this particular rosary, I put all man saints in the "choose your medal" option. Men or women should feel free to use this rosary (which is why the rose is featured), but for the sake of simplifying, I separated the mens and womens rosary so that they could have colors that pertained to them best.

For the men niner rosary, I have these saint medals available to choose from:

St.Franicis of Assisi
St.Peregrine
Sacred Heart of Jesus
Blessed John Paul
St.Andrew
St.Jude

For the women, I have as follows:

St.Therese the Little Flower
Our Lady of Sorrows
St.Cecelia
St.Lucy
Our Lady of Loretto

There is more to come! I haven't yet built up my selection but if there is a saint medal you don't see, email me and I can probably get what you want.

Also, I was not able to put it in my "options menu" in my Etsy store, but you can request a glass or square bead in place of a rose if you are thinking of the more "manly" men. :-)

Sorry for the rambling post; it became a little more complicated than it was simple. Let's just say you can go to my Etsy store and figure it out yourself! I promise it's not as complicated as I'm making it sound!

As always, thanks for stopping by!

  1. Becky, I love these! I actually really love the men's colors even for women, too. You know what these would be perfect for? I don't know if you've heard of Mother Teresa's emergency novena, but I use it a lot (I think I prayed it every time I would hear Dominic took a turn for the worse). It is nine Memorares. Pretty simple. But there is a great story behind it that I can't remember in precise detail, but if you google it it's easy to find. Anyway, I thought that would be another great way to use the niner! You are coming up with some great stuff lately! :)

  2. My "great stuff" actually comes from other people. :-) I'm pretty lucky, because I don't even know about this stuff yet somehow, God makes sure I learn about it.

I do like that idea about the emergency novena, and I'll make sure to google it. Thanks for letting me know about it!

  3. We did an emergency novena of some kind for Dominick. For nine hours, we prayed for Dominick every hour on the hour.

  4. Delete the "k." Dominic is spelled with a "c" at the end.
